Their artificial intelligence section ran a piece on the launch of AI Kids Club: what they call a pioneering AI course for kids, built on critical thinking. Last summer this was a camp for my own kids in a village in León. Now it’s in the national press.

Kids as “AI architects”
That’s how the article describes what our students learn: to work like an architect directing a team. Each kid plans a real project — an app, a game, a story — builds it with AI, tests it on classmates, and presents it to families at Demo Day, the way a founder pitches a startup. The article walks the program block by block, from first concepts to the final demo: weekly workshops at Torre Juana, Alicante’s AI hub, in small groups by grade.
Critical thinking is the whole point
As I told the journalist: AI is the most important skill kids should be learning right now — not for their future, for their present. And almost nobody is preparing them to use it.
The danger with AI is interacting with the machine as if it could think for you. Underneath, it’s just a prediction machine: it doesn’t always tell the truth, and what comes back depends on the context you give it. So the judgment has to come from the kid: what to ask, what to trust, what to build.
It’s also why we don’t teach “the ChatGPT class.” Whether it’s Claude, ChatGPT, or whatever comes next, what matters is knowing how to plan, communicate, and direct any AI.
